# Introduction

## Cross-Chain Messaging with Hyperlane

Ibran Finance is a permissionless lending and borrowing protocol built on **Base**. To enable seamless interoperability across multiple chains, Ibran integrates **Hyperlane**, a modular and permissionless interoperability layer that allows smart contracts to send messages and execute logic across chains without relying on centralized bridges.

With Hyperlane, Ibran Finance ensures lending and borrowing can happen across chains quickly, securely, and transparently. This includes operations involving **WETH and stablecoins** that require secure representation across networks. The integration simplifies complex cross-chain workflows for both users and developers.

## Why Hyperlane

#### **Permissionless Architecture**

Any developer can integrate Hyperlane without requesting approval or relying on intermediaries.

#### **Modular Security**

Interchain Security Modules (ISMs) can be configured to match the exact trust assumptions and security requirements of the application.

#### **Composability**

Smart contracts can send and receive messages between chains, enabling decentralized, interconnected financial applications.

#### **Lock and Release Capability**

Assets such as **WETH or stablecoins** can be locked on the **Base** chain with a corresponding representation released on the destination chain. This ensures secure and verifiable cross-chain transfers without custodial risk.
